Job summary

Reworld Waste, LLC is seeking an Electrical & Instrument Lead Technician to oversee safe and efficient daily operation of the facility and lead E&I maintenance personnel. The role involves electrical and instrumentation work to support the process and power generation plants in line with production schedules.

You will coordinate with operations and maintenance, supervise the crew, and ensure accurate records, safety, and adherence to procedures. Shift: Mon-Fri, 6:30 am–3:00 pm.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of experience maintaining power plant systems and components.
  • Waste-to-energy experience preferred.
  • Formal technical or apprentice training preferred.
  • Experience with electrical systems from 13kV to 120V is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance to prioritize scheduled work.
  • Monitor and verify completion of all job activities during the shift.
  • Mentor team members on difficult assignments.
  • Prepare parts and inventory to expedite work.
  • Maintain daily logs and ensure safe, compliant operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low/medium voltage equipment and DCS systems.
  • Support plant shutdown activities and ensure proper turnovers.
  • Ensure safe work practices and accurate maintenance records.

About the role

The Electrical & Instrument Lead Technician is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and directs other E&I maintenance personnel in performing skilled electrical and instrumentation work in support of the overall facility operation and in maintaining operation of the process plant and power generation plant in compliance with established production schedules and plant output requirements.

Position Responsibilities
  • Takes an active role in working with operations supervisors, lead people and relief operators in prioritizing scheduled work in coordinating activities with operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Follows up and checks on all job activities throughout the shift to ensure all work assignments are completed correctly.
  • Advises, mentors, and helps team members complete difficult or complicated assignments.
  • Sets up and pre‑stages parts from the warehouse and helps in finding and retrieving inventory items to expedite work.
  • Completes reports to the Daily Log with notations concerning future work if applicable.
  • Enforces the daily entries to the E&I logbook.
  • Relays information from supervision and management and communicates with the crew concerning schedules, anticipated schedule changes, and overtime opportunities.
  • Maintains records of crew member’s attendance, including incidents of tardiness and early leaves.
  • Ensures that all time worked is recorded on completed work orders.
  • Ensures that the shift technicians conduct proper turnovers.
  • Considering the lead position a “working” position, the lead person expects to not only direct the crew’s assignments, but to also participate as part of the crew.
  • Communicates, prioritizes, and demonstrates safe work practices on all jobs.
  • Ensures that properly filled out SWP’s are issued for all jobs.
  • Promotes BBS entries into Ideagen.
  • Ensures that all job assignment work areas are left cleaned upon completion of work.
  • Ensures that work accidents or incidents involving crew members resulting in injury to persons or damage to property are reported to the Maintenance Superintendent, or in the superintendent’s absence, to the Power Plant Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
  • Perform maintenance of higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine driven generators.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment, including but not limited to, pumps, fans, motors, conveyors & refuse cranes.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.
  • Trouble shoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Continuous Emissions Motoring System (CEMS) as well as all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation, which includes but is not limited to, transmitter flow devices, level controls, temperature measurement, and flue gas analysis equipment.
  • Trouble shoot, assess, inspect, and adjust, and make repairs, as needed to the Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, which include but are not limited to, routine calibration, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Operate various calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Reworld safety practices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and complete all maintenance work records.
  • Actively participate in plant shutdown work including teardown inspection of electrical plant equipment.
  • Maintain shop, work areas and tools in clean and orderly manner.
  • Complete Reworld safety, compliance, and other required training / certification within the assigned timelines.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the E&I management team.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in the maintenance of power plant systems, equipment, and components
  • Experience in waste‑to‑energy preferred
  • Formal technical or apprentice training, military training preferred.
  • Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical systems ranging from high voltage (13kv) to low voltage (120v) inclusive of motor control centers, load centers, circuit breakers, motors, and associated controls.
  • Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of medium or large turbine generators, their instrumentation, and controls.
  • Must have DCS experience with Emerson Ovation systems or similar type systems controls.
  • Must have experience with fire detection/suppression system controls.
Physical Demands of the Role
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions.

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future. The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 45.77 - 60.91 USD per hour
