Job Description:

L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions Londonderry, a leading designer and manufacturer of laser, night vision, and electro-optic devices, is seeking a lead Electrical Engineer to pursue a career in a fast-paced company where new designs become production reality. As a member of our product development staff, you will lead and support electrical teams in creating new technology initiatives and advancements. A variety of Electrical Engineering and leadership skills, specifically in high-technology military products such as weapon-mounted, helmet-mounted, and hand-held devices, will be required to bring projects from concept to production.

Essential Functions:
  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area.
  • Lead and/or manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization, with minimal oversight or direction.
  • Lead and support electrical design teams in developing new products.
  • Communicate effectively inside and outside the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes, and approaches. Make significant improvements to processes, systems, or products.
  • Implement operational plans that impact department goals and have measurable results.
  • Conduct component, subsystem, and system-level design trades and analyses.
  • Lead and perform rapid prototyping and assembly to support concept demonstration hardware.
  • Translate product and system requirements into electrical specifications for design, development, and verification.
  • Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including power supply, sensors, ADC/DAC, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and FPGAs.
  • Design high-reliability analog and digital electronics, including precision instrumentation amplifiers and mixed-signal interfaces.
  • Design high-efficiency power conversion circuits for low-power, battery-operated systems.
  • Apply EMI/EMC best practices in design.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout, packaging tradeoffs, and testing for low-noise, mixed-mode circuitry, preferably for electro/optical applications.
  • Design electronic modules, including rigid and flexible PCBAs and interconnects.
  • Use ECAD/CAE tools for design and analysis of electrical modules.
  • Develop, integrate, and test electrical/electronic, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical components and systems.
  • Collaborate across systems, mechanical, optical, software/firmware, and manufacturing teams.
  • Design for manufacturing, test, power, size, weight, and project requirements.
  • Design for high reliability and harsh MIL-STD environments, including shock, vibration, temperature extremes, and immersion.
  • Work with PCB designers to create low-noise, high-reliability designs.
  • Perform circuit analysis, modeling, simulation, and timing analysis.
  • Create detailed design documentation.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews.
  • Conduct testing to verify design compliance, including EMC testing.
  • Proficient with laboratory instruments and data analysis tools for performance troubleshooting.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Transition designs to production and support sustaining engineering.
  • Generate and process engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Exhibit excellent communication, collaboration, time management, and organizational skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with at least 7 years, or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years developing electrical hardware in defense, aerospace, or medical fields.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, optical, software/firmware, and digital requirements.
  • Project management expertise.
  • EE-specific software experience: Siemens Cadence OrCAD, Allegro, PSPICE.
  • Experience with FPGA, RF electronics, and task management.
  • Knowledge of SOPs, process control, and standardization.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
