The Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington is seeking an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer 4 to join the Ocean Engineering Department. You will lead the full lifecycle of electrical systems for oceanographic and marine robotic instruments, from concept through deployment, with emphasis on reliability in harsh environments.

Role requires strong design, test, and integration skills, experience with Altium/ECAD tools, and ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field with four years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing, testing, and deploying complex electrical systems for marine environments.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer, PCB layout, and ECAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of electrical hardware engineering from concept to deployment.
• Design, test, and validate subsystems, PCBs, and harnesses for marine systems.
• Plan at-sea installation, operation, and maintenance of hardware.
• Coordinate with PIs, software and mechanical engineers to ensure system integration.
• Present design reviews and project status to stakeholders and department heads.
