Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks an Electrical Engineer in the Office of State Engineer to guide agencies in procurement of design and construction services, ensuring compliance with Building Codes and safety standards.

The role requires a PE license (or eligibility), a bachelor’s in engineering, and extensive experience in electrical engineering and project management for state facilities. Supervisory能力 and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for Professional Engineer licensure in SC.
• Eight years' licensed engineering experience, or six years with a master's.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering theories and methods.
• Familiarity with state and federal building and procurement laws.
• Ability to supervise engineers/architects and coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Guide agencies to ensure procurement compliance for construction services.
• Review design and bidding documents for life-safety and code compliance.
• Oversee contract administration and coordination with consultants.
• Perform occupancy certificate inspections to ensure safe occupancy.
