Job summary

MEA Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead and grow a team responsible for the design, analysis, and support of electrical systems in oil, gas, and water facilities. The role emphasizes power distribution, motor controls, instrumentation, and electrical safety, with close collaboration on data centre integrations.

The candidate will develop electrical plans, perform load calculations, review schematics, and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 5+ years of experience, with some exposure to leading or directing others.
• Experience in electrical design for oil & gas, water treatment, or industrial facilities.
• Experience in power systems including solar, renewables, power grid, or substation work.
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, electrical design software, and power system analysis tools.
• Ability to interpret electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical plans, perform load calculations, and review one-lines and schematics.
• Ensure all designs meet NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and industry standards.
• Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment such as MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical systems across all project sites.
• Mentor and potentially manage two to three team members as the function grows.
