Job summary

Ardmore Roderick in Chicago seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer (MEP) to lead building electrical design from concept through construction. You will coordinate with architects, utilities, and clients, delivering robust power distribution, lighting, and life-safety systems for complex facilities.

The role requires a PE license in Illinois, 8+ years of building design experience, and strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MEP coordination. Hybrid work options may apply based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Active Illinois PE license with ability to seal electrical docs.
• 8+ years of electrical design experience for buildings.
• Proficiency with Chicago Electrical Code and NFPA 70.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from concept through construction closeout, managing scope, schedule, budget and coordination.
• Lead electrical design for building projects, including utility coordination, power distribution, lighting and controls, grounding and bonding.
• Prepare, review, and seal electrical drawings, specs, calculations, and permit docs when designated as Engineer of Record.
• Perform and review electrical load calculations, short-circuit analyses, voltage-drop studies, and system coordination.
• Develop and modify electrical drawings and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD, coordinating with other disciplines.
• Interface with clients, architects, utilities, and contractors to present design decisions and resolve conflicts.
