Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an Electrical Engineer in San Diego to design, integrate and troubleshoot electronics systems critical to the V-BAT aircraft. You will own flight-critical avionics, drive hardware from concept to flight, and lead hardware teams in a fast-paced defense-tech environment.

You will tackle power management and control systems, mentor engineers, and ensure designs meet safety, reliability and high-altitude requirements. Experience with ECAD and rigorous verification is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of industry experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Strong fundamentals in circuit design, schematic capture, testing and debugging.
• Proactive, reliable teammate with high standards and integrity.
• Ability to propose innovative hardware solutions for reliability and safety.

Responsibilities

• Own flight critical avionics designs for V-BAT.
• Own circuit and sub-system design for V-BAT and support equipment.
• Lead design verification and manufacturing deployment.
• Provide mentorship and technical feedback to others on power team.
• Harden designs for harsh environments (shock/vibe, high reliability, radiation, high altitude).
• Full-cycle hardware development from concept to testing and validation.
• PCB layout ownership with ECAD engineers, optimizing power density and EMI.
• Design for Safety, Manufacturability and Reliability.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Mechanical, Embedded, Software, Supply Chain, Production.
• Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Manage project timelines and milestones for on-time outcomes.
• Define technical product requirements and features.
