Job description

Electrical Engineer – Substation Projects

Location: Merrillville, IN (45min from downtown Chicago)

Base Pay Range

$60.00/hr - $90.00/hr

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare concept, schematic design, design development and construction documents.
• Design switchgear, substations, transformers, Remote Instrument Enclosures, and Building power systems.
• Conduct code research and incorporate applicable requirements into the design.
• Conduct material research and compile data for the project.
• Conduct field surveys.
• Prepare project specifications.
• Communicate with project team and coordinate work.
• Develop cost estimates and proposals.
• Participate in presentations to customers.
• Experience with instrumentation, control system design or configuration is a plus.
• Electrical Heat Tracing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ Years of Experience
• BS in Electrical Engineering
• Professional License (Electrical) in state of Texas
• Strong experience with ETAP Electrical Power System Analysis software
• Experience with SKM Electrical Software a plus
• Experience with power distribution and subsystems, including 480V and 13kV
• Demonstrated experience in technical execution on both FEL/FEED and EPC projects in the chemical and petrochemical industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience estimating labor and material efforts and preparing proposals related to Electrical Engineering jobs is a plus
• Self-motivating, self-managing individual

Working Conditions

• Core Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm
• Overtime: Occasionally (Straight time rate)
• Travel: up to 50%
