Commissioning Lead Electrical - SME - Remote / Traveler
Our client is an Engineering Design and Commissioning Company that specializes in MEP critical facilities design. They provide design, commissioning, consulting and management expertise in the Critical Facilities Space, focusing on reliability, energy efficiency, sustainable design, and LEED expertise for Enterprise, Colocation, and Hyperscale Companies. Lead the overall electrical commissioning process, following standards set by the organization and overseeing multiple commissioning projects for large data center projects. This candidate will act as a Commissioning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure that commissioning experts follow commissioning standards and adhere to a thorough quality management/QC process and procedures that validate and document client’s systems. This candidate will also handle any technical commissioning issues for their data center clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple commissioning projects with a full team of commissioning engineers and project managers on a wide range of Data Center Commissioning projects.
  • Manage the technical aspects of projects and act as a technical resource for commissioning teams.
  • Ensure commissioning standards are followed for equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures, development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs), and comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Ensure that the overall commissioning process is followed with the highest standards, including:
    • Commissioning test procedures and reports.
    • Commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
    • Comprehensive reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, lists of deficiencies, equipment operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure the team follows commissioning standards:
    • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
    • Conduct integrated system testing, load bank testing, and compile all testing procedure results.
    • Perform functional tests for various building MEP systems, such as fire alarm and control systems, HVAC, chillers, CRAC units, normal and standby electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, and emergency lighting.
    • Prepare commissioning plans and follow company QC processes and procedures.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners' agents as needed.
  • Execute project assignments and interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, etc.
  • Verify commissioning results of test reports.
  • Assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in the Electrical/Mechanical Commissioning Field.
  • Bachelor's/Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
  • A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission-critical projects.
  • Previous Data Center/Mission Critical experience is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as this role requires a significant amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction.
  • Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning.
  • Experience managing commissioning teams and developing plans for large-scale commissioning projects.
  • Knowledge of IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of systems design for various projects.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • Previous experience in the Military/Military veterans with Electrical/Mechanical experience is a huge plus.
  • Open to 50% travel (not long periods of travel, just many smaller trips to check on multiple projects).
  • Must live 60-90 minutes from a major airport.
