Job summary

Hawaiʻi State Department of Education seeks an Educational Officer to lead planning, design, training, and implementation of K-12 EL and Bilingual programs in coordination with state-level subject specialists.

Requires a master’s degree in education and at least six years of professional educational experience, with emphasis on teaching and curriculum planning. The position is 12-month, with comprehensive benefits and a salary range of $114,820 to $162,535.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in education with specialization in a subject field appropriate to the area(s) of assignment.
• Experience: Six years in responsible professional work in education; four years teaching and two years in curriculum or program planning.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in planning, design, training and implementation of the K-12 EL and Bilingual programs in coordination with state-level language arts specialists.
• Evaluates and monitors EL programs and develops long-range plans; partners with other offices for monitoring.
• Serves as a liaison between the Department and other agencies and organizations in EL education.
• Prepares program plans, budgets, contracts, memoranda and legislative testimony.
