Job summary

El Hogar del Niño, now part of Brightpoint, seeks a Lead Teacher for 0-3 year olds to implement Head Start standards and provide individualized, family-centered care in a COA/NAEYC-accredited center in Chicago. You will support social, emotional, and cognitive development while collaborating with a cohesive team and supervisor.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in ECE with 24 hours of ECE coursework and Illinois Gateways Level 5 credentials (ECE and Infant/Toddler).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 24 hours of ECE coursework.
• Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Level 5 ECE Credential and Infant/Toddler Level 5 Credential required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with children and/or families.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements individualized learning that supports social, emotional, development, and cognitive needs.
• Maintains knowledge of Head Start standards, ISBE requirements, and NAEYC expectations when applicable.
• Implements curriculum reflecting mandated elements, cultural factors, and family involvement.
• Conducts developmental screenings and uses results for lesson planning.
• Enters required information on children, including assessments, into the data system.
• Identifies children needing additional help and coordinates referrals.
• Leads weekly planning meetings and shares teaching strategies.
• Mentors and trains classroom staff, student interns, and volunteers.
• Assists supervisor with annual performance reviews.
• Leads parent engagement activities connecting home and classroom learning.
• Completes monthly reports and required documentation.
