Job summary

The Educational Alliance Inc. is seeking a Head Teacher at the 14th Street Y in New York, NY.

This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 8:15am to 1:45pm and focuses on building emergent curricula, documenting learning, and collaborating with a teaching team to foster inquiry and inclusive classrooms. Candidates must hold NY State N-6 or PreK-6 certification and an MA in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, with strong written and oral communication.

Qualifications

• MA in Early Childhood/ Elementary Education and NY certification or study plan.
• Excellent written communication with ability to craft narrative observations and share with families.
• Ability to use Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and online learning platforms as required.
• Minimum 3 years of professional teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
• Strong oral communication with children, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Co-create curriculum based on children's interests and development.
• Document, reflect, and plan from observations.
• Lead weekly planning meetings with the teaching team.
• Meet the needs of all children.
• Create a classroom environment that promotes inquiry, exploration, learning, and respect.
