Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee Self-Perform Operations (SPO) for drywall and related trades on a Los Angeles project. You will plan, forecast, and direct SPO staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring adherence to scope, safety, schedule, and quality while supervising trade labor and coordinating with forepersons.

You will develop production plans, monitor progress, manage material takeoffs and deliveries, and contribute to staffing decisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing as Superintendent managing work as a specialty contractor focusing on interior systems for specialty scopes (e.g., framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, specialty ceilings, delegated design cold formed metal framing, and doors, frames, hardware)
• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field of study a plus, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• In-depth technical knowledge of interior systems and related tools and equipment required by this trade
• Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract understanding, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, and Trade practices
• Knowledge of lean principles
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawing specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
• In-depth knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) practices
• Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop understanding of requirements
• Proficient skills in project management, able to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
• Leadership management skills with ability to forge relationships with stakeholders and indirect reports
• Professional verbal and written communication skills, able to present information clearly
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications

Responsibilities

• Sequence work to meet project schedule and coordinate SPO activities.
• Establish production requirements with Trades Foreperson and measure progress weekly.
• Monitor and report installed quantities and percentage of completion for SPO tasks.
• Monitor jobsite deliveries for approved materials at the time and quantities as defined in project schedule.
• Assist General Superintendent and/or Trades Manager with hiring and termination decisions related to Trade labor.
