Job summary

Sheppard Pratt is seeking a Lead Driver to operate the Health System van or car, transporting patients and occasional deliveries across the metropolitan area. The role includes maintaining records, reporting significant observations to a supervisor, and coordinating vehicle upkeep.

The Lead Driver will schedule routes, document repairs, and mentor a small team of drivers, under general supervision, to maximize resource use and safety in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or Vocational Program.
• Valid driver’s license at appointment and throughout tenure.
• No 3+ points on driving record; other adverse history may disqualify.
• Ability to read, write and speak English well to communicate with patients and staff.
• One to two years of related driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, coordinates transportation routes to ensure efficient use of program resources.
• Coordinates and documents all vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Trains and leads a small group of drivers.
