Job summary

Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions in New Berlin, WI is seeking a Lead Driver to join a safety-minded team. Pay is $30-$33 per hour with shift hours Monday–Friday starting at 5 AM and benefits starting day one.

You will assist with dispatch, train new drivers, and handle routing using Optimo, GeoTab, ELD, and Tru-Access. Responsibilities include maintaining DVIRs, assisting with repairs and maintenance scheduling, handling customer questions, and performing routine route deliveries as needed.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL license required.
• Prior lead driver experience.
• 2 years in glass industry driving preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in dispatch and back up Transportation Manager.
• Use Optimo routing software for routes.
• Help train newly hired drivers and conduct road tests.
• Train drivers on GeoTab, ELD, Tru-Access.
• Maintain equipment documents for tractors/trailers.
• Sign off on DVIRs and report issues.
• Answer customer questions daily.
• Perform minor onsite trailer repairs and scheduling.
• Notify manager of offsite repairs and schedule maintenance.
• Know routes, customers, and average delivery times.
• Retrieve empty racks and complete deliveries as needed.
• Demonstrate ability to perform site deliveries with Moffett/boom.

Someone who can work independently while also collaborating effectively with transportation, safety, and operations teams.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assist in dispatch responsibilities and serve as backup to Transportation Manager as needed
• Utilizing Optimo routing software
• Assist in initial training of newly hired drivers and assist with driver road tests.
• Assist with driver tablet training using GeoTab, ELD, and Tru-Access.
• Assist Transportation Manager maintain and place equipment documents in proper holding areas for tractors/trailers.
• Sign off on driver DVIRs and notify/correct any equipment failures.
• Communicate and answer customer questions daily.
• Handle minor onsite repairs (replace bulbs on trailers, etc.).
• Notify Transportation Manager of needed offsite repairs and assist with scheduling repairs, preventative maintenance, etc.
• Maintain knowledge of routes, customers, and average time to complete routes.
• Retrieve empty racks from customer shops or jobsites in a timely manner.
• Complete route deliveries as needed.
• Demonstrate ability and skillset to complete jobsite/shop racked deliveries (Moffett or boom).
• Assist Transportation and Safety Manager with Decision Driving Principles.

Skills You Bring

• Class A CDL Driver license required.
• Prior lead driver experience.
• 2 years of previous work experience in the glass industry as a driver preferred but not required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements.
• Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
