Job summary

St. Louis County Schools, ISD 2142 is seeking a Lead Bus Driver to provide leadership and coordination for transportation operations at the designated school location in Minnesota.

The role works with the Transportation Director, school office, and building administration to ensure safe, reliable student transportation. Responsibilities include scheduling, maintaining transportation schedules, reporting incidents, and coordinating drills.

Qualifications

  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT physical, drug test, and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate the master schedule of extra bus trips and times for the designated school location.
  • Maintain a current master transportation schedule for the school office.
  • Report emergencies, delays, vehicle damage, accidents, or other incidents to the Transportation Director.
  • Assist with the distribution of transportation department communications.
  • Coordinate with building principal and Transportation Director to complete annual student bus evacuation drills.
  • Collect and submit required evacuation drill reports to the Transportation Director.
  • Conduct driver pre-trip evaluations as assigned.
  • Ride along with each regular driver and substitute driver once per year to evaluate driving performance.
  • Provide leadership and support to bus drivers and substitute drivers.
  • Serve as a point of contact between drivers, the school office, building administration, and the Transportation Director.
  • Assist with addressing transportation questions, concerns, and scheduling needs.
  • Promote safe and efficient student transportation practices.
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Wage: $2,750 annual stipend

Position Description

The Lead Bus Driver provides leadership and support to bus drivers and assists in coordinating transportation operations at the designated school location. This position works closely with the Transportation Director, building principal, and school office to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation.
