Job description

Igne are seeking a Lead Driller to join the team in Hamilton, Glasgow.

The Waterwells division of Igne specializes in providing cost-effective, high-quality, and independent water supplies to both private and public sector clients. With over 350 years of combined experience in borehole drilling, they are one of the UK’s leading water supply specialists.

The successful candidate will organise equipment, operate and run drilling sites on both domestic and commercial water well drilling projects, to industry technical specifications and Company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out drilling, construction, and installation of water supply boreholes.
  • Select all required equipment for each project.
  • Handle all site operations ensuring all work is carried out as safely as possible.
  • Maintain the rig and carry out routine maintenance.
  • Train assistant drillers to the required standards to enable them to operate a drilling rig and other plant equipment.
  • Transportation of drilling rig and specialist plant equipment.
  • Set up and operation of the drilling rig and specialist plant equipment.
  • Maintain and carry out routine maintenance on equipment.
Person Specification
  • Full UK driving licence (travel is a requirement).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Previous experience of operating drilling rigs.
  • Able to work within a high-pressured environment.
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers and stay away from home as required.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling.
Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary on offer is c£40,000 for a 44.5 hour week, plus overtime.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
