Job summary

The Botanist in Worcester, MA is seeking a Lead Dispensary Associate to handle patient interactions, educate on products, and assist with inventory and cash tasks. This role includes cross-training in order fulfillment and responding to patient requests.

The position emphasizes strong customer service skills, confidentiality, and teamwork in a fast-paced dispensary environment. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred.
  • 2+ years in a fast-paced client-service environment (hospitality/retail preferred).
  • State background check required.
  • Experience with POS and office software desirable.
  • Familiarity with medical marijuana helpful but not required.
  • Strong phone and in-person customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage cash and inventory accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members in person or by phone, schedule appointments, and oversee intake/renewals.
  • Maintain member records in compliance with state law and company policy.
  • Answer questions about the law and the company.
  • Assist members in selecting medicine and advise on safe dosage.
  • Support inventory and cash management daily and weekly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dispensary Manager.

Job description

About the Role

The Lead Dispensary Associate is responsible for all Dispensary Associate duties and responsibilities including interacting with, educating, and advising patients face-to-face and by phone, record-keeping, assisting with inventory and cash management as well as interacting with local service providers. The Lead Dispensary Associate will be cross‑trained in all order fulfillment activities which includes preparing orders, entering product information, calling patients with product requests and admitting patients when the Security Guard is otherwise occupied.

How You’ll Make a Difference
  • Greets members in person or on the phone; schedules appointments; oversees member intake and renewal procedures
  • Maintains member records in compliance with State law and Company policy
  • Answers questions about the law and the Company from members and others
  • Assists members in selecting medicine; advises and educates them about safe dosage and other aspects of this medicine
  • Assists the Dispensary Manager with inventory and cash management, daily and weekly
  • Maintains a clean, safe, welcoming environment inside and outside the facility
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Dispensary Manager according to Company needs
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of post‑secondary education in a related field preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in a fast‑paced client‑service intensive industry – hospitality and retail backgrounds preferred
  • State mandated background check
  • Computer and equipment operations necessary for running an office/retail center (POS systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)
  • Familiarity with history and varieties of medical marijuana preferred but not required
  • Outstanding phone and in‑person customer service skills
  • Thriving to perform job duties in a fast‑paced environment with the ability to stay even‑keeled in periods of stress
  • Demonstrated proactivity, flexibility, adaptability and multi‑tasking

Compensation: $18.50-$19/hr

Schedule
  • 5, 8‑hour shifts

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
