General Statement of Duties
The Team Lead works alongside the Residential Manager to develop, implement, and coordinate supports that address the needs and interests of consumers and assist them in safely reaching their personal goals for skill development and community integration.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides direct care when needed to ensure that consumers get to medical appointments, programs, and activities and receive daily care as intended.
  2. Schedules medical appointments for consumers and accompanies them; ensures emergency care is received as needed.
  3. Conducts regular consumer meetings.
  4. Prepares menus and ensures dietary needs are met.
  5. Provides direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs.
  6. Assists with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  7. Administers medications and monitors health conditions.
  8. Implements behavior management strategies and provides emotional support.
  9. Assists with meal planning, preparation, and feeding.
  10. Supports individuals in participating in recreational activities and community outings.
  11. Documents individual progress and reports any concerns or incidents to the supervisor.
  12. Ensures fire and emergency drills are conducted as required.
  13. Ensures new staff receive on-the-job orientation and training.
  14. Routinely meets with supervisor and participates in management meetings and activities.
  15. Maintains positive relationships with persons, businesses, and organizations that seek to work with consumers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience working with individuals with autism, hospice care, or senior care is a plus
  • 1-year experience working with developmentally disabled individuals
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Word; familiarity with an electronic health record system preferred
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and other team members
  • Understanding of resident rights and ability to advocate for individual needs
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Two (2) years experience working with persons with physical and/or developmental disabilities; 1 year experience as supervisor
  • Ability to understand and implement individualized supports
