Supporting the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program, we are seeking a Lead Dining Attendant at McMurdo Station.

Position Details
  • Position: Dining Attendant, Lead
  • Season: Austral Summer (Summer 2025-2026)
  • Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica
  • Department: Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation (GSC) Antarctica
  • Reports To: Steward Coordinator
  • Salary: $648 - $736 per week
Responsibilities
  1. Provide exceptional customer service as outlined by supervisors.
  2. Maintain a safe workplace, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
  3. Report all safety concerns, injuries, and near misses.
  4. Ensure sanitation and safety in dining areas, including equipment use and storage.
  5. Coordinate daily tasks with other Dining Attendants and Stewards.
  6. Assign and monitor cleaning schedules and food storage procedures.
  7. Prepare weekly food and beverage orders.
  8. Train and supervise subordinate staff, ensuring compliance with SOPs and safety standards.
  9. Support smooth meal service operations and team coordination.
  10. Contribute to achieving ASC performance metrics.
  11. Ensure compliance with environmental health, safety, and quality assurance standards.
  12. Conduct daily shift meetings and employee evaluations.
  13. Demonstrate leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  14. Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude in a challenging environment.
  15. Perform physical tasks such as standing for long hours and lifting safely.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certification prior to deployment.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and passport.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in food service; Antarctic experience may substitute.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Successful background check (Tier 1 - Elevated Background Investigation).
