Job summary

Reliable Environmental Services LLC is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel engines across our fleet. You will troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, supervise junior mechanics, and ensure DOT compliance.

The role requires diagnosing issues, maintaining records, and working in varied outdoor/indoor settings. We value safety, reliability, and hands-on expertise, with a typical full-time schedule and a pay range of $31–$35 per hour.

Qualifications

• Reads wiring diagrams, schematics and manuals and applies safe practices.
• 5–10 years of diesel experience or fleet repairs.
• CDL Class A preferred; valid license required.
• Owns tools/toolbox and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA rules and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex servicing and repairs on company and customer vehicles.
• Supervise and provide guidance to junior mechanics as needed.
• Maintain accurate repair records and parts inventory.
• Ensure equipment meets DOT standards before release.
• Follows safety policies and keeps the shop organized.
• Weld, fabricate and troubleshoot electrical/hydraulic/mechanical issues.
• Respond to emergencies and work extended hours when required.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in repairing and maintaining diesel engines and related systems in various vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Under minimal supervision, performs complex servicing, maintenance and repairs on company and customer vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations
• Assists Shop Manager by providing supervision, technical guidance and instruction to lower-level mechanics upon request
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and inventory of parts
• Ensures that all equipment released to the field meets or exceeds DOT standards
• Keeps shop clean and organized to promote professionalism, safety and efficiency
• Follows all safety policies and procedures
• Weld and fabricate when needed
• Quickly assess issues during breakdowns and communicates with equipment operators and then applies troubleshooting, diagnostic and knowledge to repair equipment in an efficient manner
• Ability to respond to emergency calls after normal working hours
• Ability to work extended hours to meet production demands
• The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and address electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis

Requirements:

• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and to implement that knowledge in safe work practices
• Must have valid drivers license (CDL Class A preferred)
• Must have knowledge of F.M.C.S.A. rules and regulations (DOT 49 CFR)
• Must have your own tools/toolbox
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft office
• Must be able to push, pull, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions
• Preferred- Certificate or Degree from college or technical school Diesel Program a Plus
• Minimum of 5-10 years Diesel experience or Fleet Repairs
