The Diesel Mechanic will possess the knowledge to maintain, repair and service diesel truck engines, including transmissions, brakes systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering systems as well as basic mechanical skills. They will perform all tasks according to work orders created by the Mechanical Service Writer in line with the Ohio Truck Sales standards. This technician will work in a timely manner yet still focus on the quality of the job done.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
- Follow work order instructions to make repairs per the FMCSA
- Make mechanical repairs including engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering, rear-ends, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair 12-volt wiring and lighting
- Installing Brake Shoes and Drums
- In depth understanding of all mechanical components of heavy-duty trucks
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills to find the source of problems / malfunctions
- Ability to work with hand tools, precision, and other equipment
- Ability to follow work order instructions
- Communicate with the Mechanical Service Writer on other issues that may arise during work order completion
- Work in a safe manner and wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Must provide own tools & toolbox
- Performs other job-related duties assigned
Required Education, Skills & Abilities
- High School graduation or its equivalent
- Ability to complete standard jobs equivalent to or less than documented Standard Repair Times
- ASE Certification preferred
- CDL A or B preferred
- Previous emissions experience preferred but not required
- Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of the job.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50+ pounds
- Constant hand, fingers, and arm use

- Ability to continuously stand or walk
- Ability to manipulate small hand tools
- Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently
