Mechanics Hub in Carol Stream, IL seeks a Lead Diesel Mechanic to guide a skilled team of technicians. You’ll diagnose and repair medium to heavy trucks, lead on-site repairs, and ensure compliance with safety standards. A CDL is preferred and ASE is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in medium/heavy truck repair, including diagnostics and electrical systems.
• Valid state driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• ASE Certification preferred but not required.
• Ownership of recommended hand tools for the role.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems (steering, electrical, cooling, braking, drivetrain).
• Conduct test drives to verify repairs and safety.
• Obtain inspections and approvals for major repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized workspace.
• Identify and report additional maintenance needs for fleet reliability.
• Document repair details (time, parts used).
• Respond to road calls for on-site repairs.
• Collaborate with and lead technicians, ensuring safe maintenance practices.

Duties & Responsibilities:Diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including steering, electrical, cooling, braking, and drivetrain, ensuring compliance with regulations.Conduct test drives to verify repairs and ensure vehicle safety and performance.Obtain necessary inspections and approvals for major repairs before releasing vehicles.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace in adherence to safety standards.Identify and report additional maintenance needs during repairs to ensure fleet reliability.Accurately document repair details, including time spent and parts used, for each job.Respond to road calls to perform on-site repairs as needed.Collaborate with and lead fellow technicians, addressing feedback and ensuring safe maintenance practices. Requirements:5+ years of experience in Medium/Heavy truck repair, including diagnostics and electrical systems.In-depth knowledge of diesel equipment and AC repair.Valid state driver’s license required CDL preferred. Training available for those who need to obtain a CDL after hire.ASE Certification preferred but not required.
