Job summary

First Student in Pottstown, PA is seeking a Lead Diesel Fleet Technician to lead preventive maintenance and mentor shop staff. This role offers a competitive starting pay of $38.00–$42.00 per hour with a $5,000 hiring bonus, and a Monday–Friday day shift from 5:30am to 5:30pm with potential overtime.

Company-paid ASE testing and CDL training, plus extensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k), await the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in diesel or automotive maintenance or technical school training.
• Willingness to obtain CDL while employed; company-paid training.
• Strong computer skills; possess a mechanic's tool set; ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex vehicle diagnostics and repairs; perform road tests as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of engines, emissions, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Supervise shop technicians; conduct daily huddles, training, and evaluations.
• Manage inventory control, approve expenses within scope, schedule fleet maintenance, ensure safety compliance.
• Conduct inspections, monitor performance, and liaise with management on budgets and projects.
• Participate in ASE certification program and perform hands-on work as needed.
