Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.

• Integrate DevSecOps with security scanning, SBOM generation, and artifact management.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Engineer to support a government customer located in Gaithersburg, MD. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote for candidates within commuting distance of Gaithersburg. The Lead DevSecOps Engineer will support mission-critical cloud and platform engineering initiatives that impact millions of air travelers.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions to support continuous integration, testing, and delivery.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters, Docker containerized workloads, and Terraform-based infrastructure within AWS environments.
• Integrate security tooling and DevSecOps practices, including vulnerability scanning, software supply chain security, SBOM generation, and artifact management.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes using Bash and Python scripting.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve platform reliability, deployment velocity, developer experience, and operational excellence.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline with 4+ years of experience; Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience; or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• Security+ CE, CySA+, or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully complete all required government background investigations.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Linux administration, and automation using Bash and Python.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices, security scanning tools, software supply chain security (Sigstore, SLSA, SBOM generation), artifact management systems, and build provenance tracking.
• Understanding of networking, load balancing, service mesh concepts, Agile/SAFe methodologies, and developer platform initiatives.

Lead DevSecOps Engineer Compensation:

• $140,000 - $155,000 (depending on experience)
