Top Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices – research, test, and execute new techniques that could improve software deployment strategies
  • Train and mentor engineering teams on best practices and internal tools built to address automation and security
  • Collaborate with the IT and engineering teams to build the strategic direction of the DevOps discipline
  • Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provide
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure in AWS
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and other necessary tools
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment of infrastructure and services using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast and reliable delivery of code to production
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement deployment strategies, including blue/green and canary releases
  • Own and manage the release process and maintain configuration management
  • Integrate security best practices into the build and deployment pipelines (DevSecOps)
  • Develop and enforce internal standards for development, infrastructure, monitoring and deployment
  • Work within the required compliance framework (SOC2)
  • Serve as a SME for containerization efforts with Docker, Rancher, K8s, AWS ECS, and AWS ECR
  • Manage and maintain observability tools and alerting strategies (Grafana, ELK, PagerDuty, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Participate in and lead incident responseand root cause analysis efforts

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years of DevOps specific roles focusing on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and automation
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or AWS CodeBuild
  • Subject matter expert on security best practices, primarily in the context of a security framework
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using products like AWS ECS
  • Experience managing observability stacks, such as Grafana or ELK
  • Proven ability to lead projects driving initiatives to completion
  • Experience with leading teams
  • Able to identify inefficiencies and take actions to implement changes to improve operational performance
  • Proficient in managing, supporting, and optimizing complex systems and technologies
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to distill complex technical issues and ideas into simple points, relating them to relevant concepts that your audience will understand and embrace
  • Must be a self-motived, results-oriented individual capable of multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, managing uncertainty, and working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Must be capable of developing a good rapport with other people in AFG, inspiring trust and confidence from managers, peers, and subordinates
