Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer for our AI/ML Data Platform team. You will drive reliability, scalability, and performance of platforms powering data and AI innovations across the enterprise.

Lead automation efforts, shape cloud infrastructure, and partner with engineering to accelerate secure, resilient deployments. This role requires strong leadership, deep cloud expertise (AWS/Azure/GCP), and hands-on IaC proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering with measurable impact.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and modern CI/CD practices.
• Hands-on expertise in building scalable, secure IaC and automation pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Shape the cloud platform strategy to enable data and AI initiatives at scale.

In this role, you will drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of the platforms that power data and artificial intelligence (AI) innovation across Global Payments. Your leadership will help accelerate how teams deliver secure, resilient, and high-impact solutions, enabling faster business outcomes and exceptional client experiences. What you'll own

• Shape the cloud platform strategy by designing scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure that enables data and AI initiatives to grow efficiently and deliver measurable business value.
• Accelerate software delivery outcomes through automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), improving deployment consistency, reducing operational risk, and increasing engineering productivity.
• Drive continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) excellence by building and optimizing enterprise-grade pipelines that reduce time-to-market and improve release reliability.
• Influence platform reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, testing, and operational improvements that maximize system availability, security, and user confidence.
• Champion DevOps best practices across teams by partnering with engineers, sharing expertise, and creating scalable solutions that strengthen collaboration, innovation, and long-term platform success.

What you'll bring

• Proven success leading engineering initiatives, cloud transformations, or complex infrastructure projects with measurable business and technology outcomes.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong understanding of modern cloud architecture principles.
• Advanced experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code practices that improve scalability, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Strong proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and GitHub Actions, with demonstrated success building and managing modern cloud-native environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD automation, with the ability to influence engineering excellence across teams.

It's a bonus if you have

• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or data analytics platforms and translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Demonstrated success leading DevSecOps, platform engineering, or technical modernization initiatives that improve security, governance, and developer experience.
• Ability to build alignment across cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.
