Job summary

Engineered Custom Solutions, LLC in Houston seeks a Lead Designer to oversee design and drafting operations. You will create, review, and manage machine and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and PDM, ensuring compliance with API and ASTM standards, and driving design quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in design, strong 3D modeling skills, and experience with oil & gas drilling equipment such as risers and BOP components.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of design experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM.
• Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards (API/ASTM).
• Expertise in creating and reviewing machine and fabrication drawings.
• Proven ability to produce accurate and detailed 3D models efficiently.
• Experience with oil & gas drilling equipment including drilling riser systems and BOPs.
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design team in developing high-quality 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks and PDM.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and codes (API, ASTM).
• Review and approve machine and fabrication drawings for accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to address design issues.
• Quickly develop 3D models and assemblies to meet project requirements.
• Improve design workflows and maintain the design database within the PDM system.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and project objectives.
