Job summary

GE Appliances, a Haier company, seeks a Principal Design Engineer in Louisville, KY, to own and advance GSP ventilation hood and disposer platforms with suppliers and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of engineering experience, strong leadership, and global collaboration skills.

• 8+ years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the definition, development, and maintenance of Product Technical Specifications for GSP platforms.
• Architect and evolve ventilation hood platforms with suppliers across mechanical, electrical, control, and airflow systems.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure component and system compliance and qualification.
• Lead airflow system development and validation to drive industry-leading performance.
• Drive design optimization for airflow efficiency, noise, energy performance, and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (UL, AHAM, DOE).
• Partner with product, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, distribution and service teams for platform consistency.
• Drive modular platform strategies for scalability and cost efficiency.
• Lead evaluation/integration of technologies like motors, filtration, and connected features.
• Maintain engineering documentation and CAD models for platform integrity.
• Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement from feedback.
• Contribute to strategic planning and investment prioritization.
