Job summary

Eaton's Electrical division in Worcester, MA seeks a Lead Design Engineer to drive development and commercialization of Hot Aisle Containment platforms through Eaton's NPD process. You will provide technical direction for multiple projects and coordinate across product management, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews and analyses, and push for standardization and cost reductions while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of relevant experience, or associate degree with 12+ years of experience.
• Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing data center containment or related infrastructure.

Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Lead Design Engineer.The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $143,000 a year.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.What you’ll do:Lead the development and commercialization of new Hot Aisle Containment product platforms through Eaton's NPD process.Serve as technical lead for multiple concurrent engineering projects, providing direction, prioritization, and execution oversight.Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Sales, and Marketing to ensure successful project outcomes.Lead design reviews, risk assessments, verification and validation activities, and technical decision-making to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.Design and develop containment systems, including structural frameworks, doors, panels, and mounting solutions.Oversee engineering analysis, testing, and compliance activities to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability.Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to strengthen team capability and engineering excellence.Partner with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.Drive standardization, modularization, quality improvements, and cost reduction initiatives across product families.Serve as the subject matter expert for containment systems and support strategic customer and business initiatives.This role could be the next step in your career if you demonstrate the following experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant engineering experience OR an Associate's degree with advanced technical training and 12+ years of relevant engineering experience.You will set yourself apart by demonstrating some or all of the following:Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software, preferably Creo.Experience designing data center containment systems or related infrastructure products.Strong background in structural steel and sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.Experience with engineering analysis methods such as FEA, CFD, DFMEA, and design verification.Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including racks, power distribution, cable management, and cooling systems.Familiarity with lean manufacturing, value engineering, and product cost optimization.Experience interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.Keys to role success:Proven experience leading complex product development projects from concept through commercialization.Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and driving project execution.Successfully leads complex engineering projects from concept through launch.Delivers innovative, customer-focused solutions while balancing cost, quality, and schedule objectives.Provides strong technical leadership and effectively influences stakeholders across functions.Develops and mentors engineering talent, elevating overall team performance.Demonstrates expertise in structured product development methodologies and quality systems.We will not consider candidates who:No relocation is being offered for this role.
