New York Dental Affiliates (NYDA) is adding a Lead Dentist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Cumberland. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. The Center of Excellence is part of the Gotham Health Clinics (NYC H+H). Gotham Health/Cumberland is a multidisciplinary ambulatory care center located in the vibrant, verdant and diverse neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn which offers quick and easy access to Manhattan and some of the most popular areas in Brooklyn. Cumberland provides an array of primary care and subspecialty services including Internal Medicine/Adult Primary Care, Pediatrics/Adolescent Health, Women’s Health, General Dentistry, Behavioral Health/Psychiatry, Substance Use/Chemical Dependency services, Optometry, Dermatology and Radiology services.

PAGNY seeks a full-time Dentist Level III to join our Gotham Health - Cumberland Health Center team.

Purpose of Position:

Attending level III is responsible for administrative, operational and dental services provided at the Dental Clinic. In conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer, Attending level III facilitates the development and implementation of systems, processes and standards of care for the patient population that are consistent with current evidence-based best practices, State and Federal statutes, funders requirements and health care trends. This position will manage the performance and productivity of dental providers and dental staff. Directs and supervises the dental clinic staff.

  • Performs assessments and procedures related to general dental care (preventive, restorative, periodontal, surgical, and prosthetic care).
  • Develops and oversees Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Programs for dental services.
  • Facilitates the continuity of care between patients and external providers.
  • Oversees compliance with the managed care contracts.
  • Access cycle time and patient flow.
  • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintains current and accurate problem-oriented dental records.
  • Treats dental diseases, injuries and malfunctions of teeth and gums.
  • Determines need for dental and prosthetic appliances.
  • Advises patients about dental health practices and provides dental health education.
  • Consults with the Chief Medical Officer on referral and other matters pertaining to the Center’s dental health services.
  • Takes part in all health center meetings as required.
  • Assists in the planning for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation for the dental unit.
  • Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Facilitates related services for health center patients and Gotham staff as appropriate, with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Access, Cycle time and patient flow.
  • Utilization Management Provider productivity. Quality Management: Oversees dental quality improvement, chart reviews, and peer counseling.
  • Conducts staff meeting at HC and Central Office Represent the department at meetings.
  • Maintains adequate staffing in the department.
  • Completes performance evaluation of all dental employees timely and recommends training and disciplinary actions where required.
  • Collaborates with the Dental Administrator to maintain sufficient stock/ supplies including purchasing and ordering.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance including Policies and Procedures, Risk Management, Patient satisfaction, Staff satisfaction, monitoring complaints, complement and grievances; Service recovery in cases of complaints and grievances.
  • Develops, implements, measures, and reports on performance indicators including no show rates, payer mix, income and expenses, coding compliance, dental sealants.
  • Supervises implementation of exposure control measures in the Dental Practice.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the employment, promotion, transfer, and discharge of all dental staff.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy rules and patient confidentiality.
  • Attends department, site specific and Network staff meetings.
  • Collaborates with the Board of Director's Quality Assurance Committee. Maintains an atmosphere of courtesy, respect and professionalism.
  • Maintains and observes patient safety rules and regulations.
  • Supports the mission, vision and value statement of the Gotham Health Care Network.
Qualifications
  • 8 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $190,000* based on 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $209,000**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
