Job summary

Hightstown Family Dentistry is seeking a Lead Dental Assistant to oversee the clinical back office and daily operations. This hands-on leadership role requires initiative, organization, and the ability to keep a busy department running efficiently.

The ideal candidate will delegate tasks, train staff, maintain high standards, and proactively resolve back-office issues while ensuring a smooth patient flow and well-organized operatories and sterilization areas.

  • Identify and resolve routine back-office problems and communicate concerns to management.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, stocked, and treatment-ready clinical environment including operatories, sterilization, storage, supplies, instruments, equipment, and lab areas.
  • Ensure rooms and materials are prepared ahead of schedule; manage implants components and specialty equipment.
  • Oversee clinical inventory, ordering, sterilization, equipment maintenance, and repairs to minimize shortages and downtime.
  • Remain an active chairside assistant supporting the dentist and patient flow.

Lead Dental Assistant – Clinical Operations

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Lead Dental Assistant to oversee the organization and daily operation of our clinical back office.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an excellent dental assistant with the organizational ability, initiative, and leadership skills to keep a busy clinical department running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and organize the dental assisting team by delegating responsibilities, training staff, maintaining consistent standards, and following up to ensure duties are completed properly.
  • Identify and resolve routine back-office problems proactively and communicate significant clinical, equipment, supply, or staffing concerns to management.
  • Maintain an exceptionally organized, clean, stocked, and treatment-ready clinical environment, including operatories, sterilization, storage, supplies, instruments, equipment, and lab areas.
  • Stay ahead of the schedule by ensuring rooms, materials, lab cases, implant components, and specialty equipment are prepared before they are needed.
  • Oversee clinical inventory, ordering, sterilization, equipment maintenance, and repairs while minimizing shortages, waste, and unnecessary downtime.
  • Remain an active and highly capable chairside assistant who anticipates the dentist's needs and helps maintain efficient patient flow.

We are looking for someone who is exceptionally organized, proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, personable, and accountable. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who can prioritize, delegate, follow up, solve problems, and maintain high standards for the entire clinical team.

Our Lead Dental Assistant should always have a strong understanding of what needs to be done, what is running low, what is missing or broken, what is coming up on the schedule, and whether important tasks have been completed.

The goal is simple: keep the back office organized and running so efficiently that potential problems are identified and addressed before they interfere with the schedule, patient care, or the dentist.

*Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
