Job summary

Roadrunner Venture Studios seeks an accomplished deep-tech leader to join as Head of Venture Creation, guiding venture pods from thesis to scale and turning breakthrough technologies into commercial ventures.

You will lead product, engineering, and commercialization efforts, recruit early teams, secure funding, and help portfolio companies advance pilots, partnerships, and non-dilutive milestones while shaping Roadrunner's venture creation platform.

Qualifications

• Built and operated at least one venture-backed deep-tech company from 0→1.
• Founder/CEO or senior operating executive with responsibility for product, commercialization, and team growth.
• Raised or led fundraising of $10M+ in venture capital.
• Strong product-building capability translating science into customer-ready products.
• Experience with non-dilutive funding or government programs.
• Based in—or willing to spend significant time in—New Mexico.
• Excellent judgment and ability to move quickly in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead venture pods from thesis to scale across product, engineering, talent, and capital formation.
• Identify venture theses and assemble deal teams, conduct due diligence, and support investment decisions.
• Lead company creation using Roadrunner's DVFO methodology and Platform capabilities.
• Help portfolio companies secure pilots, partnerships, and early commercial traction.
• Mentor Venture Architects and evaluate technologies, markets, and new venture opportunities.
• Raise operating standards across Roadrunner's portfolio and serve as advisor or board member when appropriate.
