Job summary

HES is seeking an on-site custodian to support facilities at educational sites in Virginia. The role includes floor care, carpet cleaning, window washing, restrooms maintenance and general upkeep.

You will perform basic work orders, safety checks, and assist with setting up spaces for events, under supervision. The candidate should be able to read and write at a suitable level, work with diverse teams, and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
• Machine shampoo carpeting.
• Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
• Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans immediately outside building entrances.
• Clean restrooms, plunger sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies.
• Change interior light bulbs, filters, and ceiling tiles.
• Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.
• Work order system inputs and building safety checks.
• Perimeter grounds policing and maintenance.
• Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice melting products to assigned areas when needed.
• Move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
