Job summary

Travel + Leisure Co. is seeking a Database Engineer III (Lead Engineer) in Orlando, FL to lead database delivery, architecture and lifecycle management for SQL Server and related platforms.

You will coordinate upgrades, migrations, and performance improvements while mentoring engineers and guiding MSP resources. The role requires deep SQL Server expertise, collaboration with security, infrastructure, and application teams, and a track record of delivering scalable, secure database solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a technical field.
• Minimum 8 years with enterprise database platforms, engineering, and administration.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Minimum 3 years with at least one additional platform domain (Oracle or Distributed Data Platforms).
• Experience leading technical delivery for upgrades, migrations, performance remediation, automation, or lifecycle projects.
• Experience mentoring engineers, supporting standards adoption, contributing to design reviews, and providing technical escalation support.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, upgrade, migration, optimization, and lifecycle management of assigned platforms.
• Coordinate tasks, validate approaches, identify risks, and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security, and business needs.
• Provide senior-level escalation support for performance, availability, backup/recovery, security, capacity, configuration, and integration issues.
• Drive performance, reliability & operational improvements across production and non-production environments.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
• Guide MSP Operations & cross-functional execution, ensuring adherence to processes.
