Qualifications

• The Lead Data Scientist develops statistical and ML solutions for automated underwriting and related problems.
• Translates business needs into rigorous analytical approaches with scalable, interpretable models.
• Provides technical direction, mentors data scientists, and communicates recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize data science opportunities with underwriting and business stakeholders.
• Lead data science projects from problem definition through modeling, evaluation, implementation, and enhancement.
• Develop statistical and ML models suitable for business problems and data availability.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and support business decisions.
• Define model evaluation Approaches and ensure accuracy and interpretability.
• Evaluate new data sources, methods, and third-party solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, ML engineers, software engineers to deploy solutions.
• Monitor model performance and recommend improvements as business conditions evolve.
• Prepare technical documentation for implementation, governance, and model management.
• Provide technical direction and mentor other data scientists.
