Job summary

VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking a Data Scientist/Manager to lead data management, analysis, and annotation across cancer-care research projects focused on older, frail, and multimorbid patients. You will work under Principal Investigators within a Harvard Medical School–affiliated environment to translate real-world evidence into improved cancer care for older Veterans.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship and ability to clear a U.S. government background check.
Bachelor's degree as specified (or equivalent combination).
At least 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or Ph.D. substitution for GS-12 research roles.

Responsibilities

Design and integrate hardware and software components into comprehensive system solutions.
Develop system architecture and design documents.
Develop and manage databases.
Automate routine tasks using scripts and management tools.
Oversee implementation of system solutions, including test plans and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery.
Gather and analyze system requirements to meet user needs.
Develop storage architecture based on capacity planning analyses.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or 30 semester hours in math, statistics, and computer science). At least 15 of 30 hours must include calculus.
