Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to guide the IS Supply Chain & Operations Analytics team in Orrville.

You will wrangle data, build models, and translate insights into measurable business actions with partners across Supply Chain & Plant Operations. The role requires influencing decisions, mentoring teammates, and driving cross-functional analytics knowledge sharing. You will assess AI/ML technologies, champion best practices, and ensure rigor in analytics projects while

Qualifications

7+ years as data scientist, statistician, or quantitative analyst with STEM degree.
Strong Python, SQL and analytical modeling capabilities.
Experience delivering ML solutions on modern platforms (Databricks/Azure ML/Spark).
Ability to translate analytics into business decisions and value.

Responsibilities

Translate complex operational challenges into analytics solutions.
Drive strategic decisions by turning data and predictive insights into outcomes.
Shape Supply Chain analytics strategy and identify high-impact opportunities.
Partner with Supply Chain and Operations leaders to improve metrics.
Evaluate emerging AI/ML tech and recommend practical business applications.
Apply advanced analytics, forecasting, optimization, and simulation methods.
Serve as a trusted advisor to enable faster, smarter decisions.
Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders; identify new data sources.
Lead advanced analytics initiatives and ensure analytical rigor.
Mentor data science teammates.
