Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Principal Data Scientist – Oncology to lead the design and implementation of a scalable knowledge graph infrastructure focused on Oncology R&D data. You will curate ontologies, standardize data and enable AI-ready datasets across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in a related field with emphasis on semantic technologies for biomedical applications.
• 5+ years professional experience in health informatics; knowledge graphs and ontology development.
• Experience with large-scale knowledge graphs construction and pharmaceutical/healthcare domain integration.
• Programming background in NLP, linked data, RDF/OWL, and data modeling techniques.
• Proficiency with semantic web technologies (SPARQL, RDF, OWL) and graph databases like Neo4j or Neptune.
• Experience with CI/CD stacks, DevOps tools, containerization (Docker) and project planning.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable knowledge graph infrastructure for Oncology R&D data.
• Apply graph-based data modeling for oncology R&D organization, integration and retrieval.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Clinical Scientists and Discovery Scientists to standardize and curate AI-ready datasets.
• Curate ontologies and mappings to established biomedical ontologies and terminologies.
• Develop ingestion and curation pipelines; work with RDF/GraphQL/REST services.
• Extend Oncology R&D ontologies and manage synonyms, cross-references and provenance.
• Enable NLP/RAG over graphs and features for predictive modeling and search tools.
• Deploy and manage graph database infrastructure focusing on high availability, scalability and recovery.
