Role Description

Oak Street Health is seeking a lead data scientist to join our care and risk modeling team. This team delivers high-quality modern data solutions by collaborating with engineers, analysts, and product teams in a fast-paced, agile environment, leveraging cutting-edge technology to reimagine healthcare delivery. As a lead data scientist, you will guide a team in developing and refining models such as DataIQ, and lead initiatives related to enhancements, expansion, maintenance, and scaling. Your role will have a high impact on expanding our data science capabilities across our care model, with many decisions driven by you and your team from inception to production.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the care and risk modeling team in designing, developing, and deploying new functionalities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify impactful applications of statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Work with clinical and population health partners to tailor models to program requirements.
  • Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets in a repeatable manner.
  • Coordinate with other development teams to shape platform vision and product roadmap.
  • Develop and mentor junior data scientists.
  • Communicate effectively (both written and verbal) and maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant data science or analytics experience.
  • 1+ years of technical mentoring experience.
  • Experience with SQL and Python in a cloud environment (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience working with clinical data in healthcare analytics.
  • Proven track record of leading analytics projects from concept to delivery, coordinating diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with model production lifecycle (Assessment, Deployment, Monitoring, Retraining).
  • Extensive experience with SQL-based relational databases.
  • Understanding of causal inference in statistics.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Embodies the values of being "Oaky".
Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is $106,605.00 - $284,280.00. Actual offers depend on experience, education, location, and other factors. This role is eligible for bonuses, commissions, and equity awards.
