Job summary

84.51° is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to serve as an AI Engineer for the Applied AI team. The role focuses on co-developing AI solutions, AI Agents, embeddings-based approaches, and integrating AI into Kroger and 84.51° processes.

You will mentor junior team members, work with business partners to identify high-value use cases, and guide production implementations while staying current in Generative AI, Agents, and Embeddings. This on-site role supports collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in data science, ML, CS or related field; 5+ years data science experience with 2+ years in senior role.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, and AI Agents in a variety of Agent Harnesses.
• Strong programming in Python, plus ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Work with business teams to co-develop AI solutions, including AI Agents, for their business.
• Mentor and lead work for junior members of the team.
• Proactively identify and evaluate business use cases that can be solved with AI.
• Design and execute rapid proof of concepts to demonstrate business value and feasibility.
