Job summary

Elliptic is seeking a hands-on Data Science Lead to steer the Intelligence team within its growing crypto data platform. You will lead a small team, own model governance, and write code while guiding strategy and hiring.

Based in the United States, Washington area, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, set objectives, review data pipelines, and drive measurable improvements in data quality and insights used by institutions to manage compliance and risk.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing data scientists or ML engineers and delivering results.
• Proven ability to hire and build a high-performing data science team.
• Strong understanding of model risk governance and data quality practices.
• Hands-on coding with Python and SQL in production environments.
• Experience with modern data stacks (cloud data lake, Spark/Databricks, AWS).
• Ability to articulate strategy and align with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the data science team; set objectives and development plans.
• Own hiring process end-to-end, interviewing and panel decisions.
• Define data collection, quality standards, and dataset scope for future work.
• Own model governance, inventory, validation, and remediation.
• Lead Elliptic’s data science work from hypothesis to delivered dataset or model.
• Stay hands-on: write code and review methods at a technical level.
• Maintain responsibility for team commitments and platform reliability.
• Collaborate across functions to land data science as platform capability.
• Set AI working standards and verification requirements for the team.
