Our client is a prestigious,private doctoral, postdoctoral, and academic research institution based in NYC. Their data team is seeking a Lead/Director Data Scientist who will partner with world-class researchers and labs working on innovative developments across multiple disciplines (biology, genetics, etc). This person will apply their expertise and best practices in AI, ML, and deep learning to various fields to advance break-through research.

Job Title:Director, Data Science

Location:Office in Manhattan. Candidates must be local to NYC and able to work onsite in Manhattan 5x per week.

Required Technology and Skills:

• Ph.Din STEM related field, with expertise in Machine learning, AI, and/or Deep learning
• Strong publication record focused on data science, ideally in the context of solving biological problems
• Up-to-date knowledge of best practices and developments in the world of AI – including LLMs, generative models, deep learning, vision-language models, etc.
• Knowledge of deep learning tools such as Python, PyTorch, NLP, etc.
• Experience applying expertise in AI / Data science to advance research focused on new developments in biology, genetics, medicine, or similar discipline
• Ability to lead a team of Machine Learning Engineers

Additional Skills:

• Prior work experience in a research or academic environment
• Expertise in AI/ML/Data science and applying it to biology
• Stable background with strong interest in joining a mission-driven organization

Salary:200,000 – 240,000 base salary (based on experience), with top-tier benefits plan
