The position will be responsible for thought leadership in advanced analytics and the development of new tools and algorithms to provide process‑oriented, cross‑functional analytics that inform business decisions and assist in developing solutions to business problems. The position will initiate and lead collaborative efforts with key stakeholders to find innovative applications for advanced analytics and implement sustainable tools that are used regularly by the corporation to support business decisions. As a Lead Data Scientist, this position will lead development of end‑to‑end solutions that are leveraged throughout the organization. Lead Data Scientists partner closely with business stakeholders and with the business intelligence and data management teams within IT.

What You Can Expect
  • Statistical Modeling and Data Visualization: The development of the design, build‑out, and implementation of sophisticated modeling techniques to help solve key business problems for global partners.
  • Identifying and developing highly efficient computer programming techniques to execute on modeling and analytical functions.
  • The implementation of a process‑oriented approach of data science for Brown‑Forman to help drive success long term.
  • Lead design for new and existing data sources to help the organization build new data sets and build deeper modeling techniques for revenue management, mixed media modeling, demographic research, production efficiencies, etc. across all business functions.
  • Developing tools and methods to collect new information from new sets of data, helping to push the organization further in exploration and gathering of ‘big data’ – both structured data (e.g. takeaway, depletions, consumer demographics) and unstructured (e.g. text mining, natural language processing).
  • Designing and prototyping contextually relevant visualizations, dashboards, and tools enabling data‑informed decision‑making using R, Python, SQL, Tableau, and other appropriate tools.
  • Presenting, visualizing and depicting the deductions and rationale of findings in clear, easy‑to‑understand and engaging ways.
Strategic Data Acquisition
  • Designing and developing methodologies to access and aggregate new data that has been identified in conjunction with cross‑functional partners.
  • Designing and developing data schematics across existing and new sources of data to combine and build new databases for the organization to utilize.
  • Auditing existing data systems to identify gaps in coverage against known business requirements or identifying new sources of information that may help reduce the overall cost.
  • Making strategic recommendations on data collection and integration.
Education and Partnerships
  • Exemplify and support best practices for Data Science across the organization.
  • Champion the use of advanced analytical techniques throughout the organization and identify new opportunities to embed Data Science in new areas of Brown‑Forman.
  • Mentor less experienced Data Scientists to strengthen our processes and deliverables.
  • Assist in the development of educational products on best practices and new approaches in Data Science.
  • Develop analytical tools and methods, as well as support special projects delivered to functional teams across the organization.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, statistics, or quantitative and analytically‑oriented education, and 6+ years of experience in developing data science solutions in a global organization, OR Master’s Degree in economics, statistics, or quantitative and analytically‑oriented education, and 4+ years of experience in developing data science solutions in a global organization.
  • Advanced experience in R or Python with familiarity of both.
  • Advanced experience with SQL and data warehousing tools & techniques.
  • Advanced experience using and interpreting machine learning, statistical modeling, and linear optimization.
  • Advanced experience in scalable computing for the purposes of expanding machine learning and data mining techniques.
  • Advanced experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Qlik, etc.
  • Strong experience building data solutions and interactive web applications for business end users.
  • Strong experience interfacing with the Business Intelligence and data warehousing operations of an industry‑leading company.
  • Experience with git and version control software & tools.
  • Experience leveraging LLMs and AI agents to solve business problems is a plus!
