Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within Corporate Technology’s Data Governance and Controls Technology team to design and deliver secure, scalable data solutions that improve governance, access, and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, set technical standards, and collaborate across business, analytics, and technology teams to raise quality and resilience at scale while leveraging AI-assisted tools in the SDLC to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines in cloud environments.
• Deep expertise with Amazon Web Services data platforms and data lake architectures, including hands-on experience with Ab Initio.
• Hands-on experience with modern data lake and warehousing technologies (e.g., Databricks and Snowflake) and processing engines such as Spark and Flink.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Oracle Database plus one or more scripting languages (e.g., Java).
• Experience with Agile delivery practices and leading team ceremonies.
• Experience with large-scale distributed data processing, monitoring, and reliability practices.
• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools and evaluating AI outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling, and security/compliance adherence.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable batch data pipelines with strong performance and observability.
• Develop and operate workflow orchestration to schedule, monitor, and manage data movement and transformations.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions aligned to data lake and data warehousing standards.
• Establish and maintain governance processes for data modeling, cataloging, ownership, lineage, and access control.
• Optimize large-scale distributed processing workloads with efficient storage/compute patterns and resilient runtime design.
• Mentor engineers through technical reviews, standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Perform advanced quantitative analysis on large datasets to uncover trends and drive data-informed decisions.
• Apply AI-assisted practices within SDLC/toolchain automation while ensuring security and auditability.
