Join to apply for the Lead Data Modeling Engineer (Azure) - Hybrid role at Acosta Group

Reporting to the Senior Vice President / General Manager, the Lead Data Modeler Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, development, and deployment of data modeling and reporting capabilities utilizing Microsoft Azure Analysis Services, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft Power BI software platforms. The role is part of our Enterprise Data Platform team that manages data ingestion, storage, modeling, and consumption for Acosta and clients. The Lead Modeling Engineer also optimizes and automates BI solutions within the platform.

This position is a #hybrid role open to #anywhere, requiring at least 3 days on-site near an Acosta office. Preferred locations include Jacksonville, FL; Lewisville (Dallas), TX; Rogers, AR; or Charlotte, NC.

This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop complex Azure Analysis Services (AAS) Tabular models with large data volumes and business logic.
  2. Create efficient views in Azure Databricks to support AAS models.
  3. Collaborate with project teams in Agile and Waterfall environments to deliver solutions.
  4. Monitor, tune, and optimize AAS and Power BI models.
  5. Mentor junior and senior data modelers, focusing on optimization and automation.
  6. Research emerging technologies to improve BI solutions.
  7. Continuously develop BI, modeling, and data skills.
  8. Automate data refreshes for AAS models.
  9. Provision and size AAS resources.
  10. Develop new and enhance existing Power BI reports.
  11. Understand Acosta’s services and supporting data solutions.
  12. Think critically about data models to extract actionable insights.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Certification: Data Analyst Associate, MCSA: BI Reporting, Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.
  • 7+ years in Microsoft SSAS, AAS, and data warehouse design.
  • 5+ years in data analytics and report development, including Power BI, M Query, DAX.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks ETL tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expertise in Power BI, including Vertipaq engine and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS foundations.
  • Advanced skills in AAS (or SSAS) tabular models.
  • Solid knowledge of Azure Databricks.
  • Problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
