Job summary

CHAOS Industries is building a data-led future for defense with a leadership role in data governance, platforms, and test operations across engineering and business teams. You will own end-to-end data lifecycle definitions, collection, security, and delivery for analytics, partnering with Foundry engineering to ensure the platform meets company needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering, data platforms, governance, analytics infra, or related tech environments with leadership.
• 1+ years in management, including leading teams with non-exempt/contract members.
• Treat data as both a technical platform and an operating discipline, not just analytics.

Responsibilities

• Establish company-wide governance for data definitions, ownership, quality, lineage, retention, and change management.
• Create authoritative, documented analytical datasets and shared definitions.
• Collaborate with Foundry engineering on ingestion, ETL, modeling, transformation, validation, and monitoring.
• Own permissions management and implement least-privilege access with Security/Compliance.
• Plan data capture at test events including sensor data, metadata, truth data, labels, logging, and storage.
• Coordinate across teams to translate objectives into data requirements and readiness.
• Set up pre-test readiness and post-test reconciliation to ensure data availability.
• Improve collection methods, retention strategy, data quality controls, and architecture.
• Build and manage data governance and field data operations teams; partner with Foundry closely.
• Sustain data operations at CHAOS test sites and contribute to test schedules, logistics, and labeling.
• Define operating procedures, SLAs, and metrics for pipeline reliability and data availability.
• Balance immediate test needs with long-term scalable architecture and team capability with Foundry.
• Travel regularly to CHAOS test sites and other locations; support outside regular hours when needed.
