Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in data management or computer science; a similar role in financial services is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance and/or data management are preferred.
  • Strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills; comfortable interacting with data in databases.
  • Proficiency in data analysis (SQL), data visualization (BI tools), data cleansing (Python), and data modeling.
  • High attention to detail, with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience with various applications and BI/database tools; EU GDPR knowledge is advantageous.
  • Educational qualifications: tertiary degree in IT, data science, or related field; DAMA certification is a plus.

Job Summary

As part of the Group Chief Data Office (CDO) team, the focus of the Enterprise Data Governance team is to design and oversee the implementation of the Group Data Governance Framework (DGF). This is a pivotal role in the Data Governance team for the DGF, along with the Data Management Standards (DMSs) underneath the DGF. The function oversees the implementation of Data Management processes and governs the corresponding artefacts, and reports progress and trajectory in the Group’s maturity of Data Management practices. The successful candidate should be proficient in data risk management, and will support data risk management activities as needed. The role focuses on building robust Data Governance practices and Data Management processes, and requires SME expertise in Data Governance and Data Management, contributing to the development and implementation of a comprehensive Data Governance Framework.

This role works alongside the Group CDO Data Risk Governance and Conduct & Controls (C&C) teams. The Data Risk Governance team manages relevant governance forums and/or committees, and interfaces with other such committees. The C&C team manages Data Control Standards and the Control Library for the first line (1LoD).

Responsibilities
  • Strategy
    • Input into the Group’s overall Data Strategy.
    • Drive the initial development of the DGF and the continuous, iterative improvement cycles by incorporating industry best practices.
    • Drive and support definition of DMSs, aligning with the organization’s data strategy (may include guidelines and procedures at a lower seniority level).
  • Business
    • Drive the implementation of the DGF across the Group by aligning Data Governance initiatives with business goals through the network of Group CDO and Business & Functions (B&F) Data Management teams.
    • Lead the development of Data Management capabilities across the Bank and within Group CDO, establishing processes to produce data management outcome metrics (e.g., Data Quality reports, Data Access exception reports) with regularity and consistency.
    • Engage with key stakeholders to promote adoption of DGF and DMSs.
    • Act with an entrepreneurial mindset to drive Data Governance forward between the Group CDO and other departments.
  • Process (Continuous improvement and innovation)
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in Data Governance and Data Management.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve Group-wide Data Governance processes to enhance effectiveness and standards.
    • Propose and lead initiatives to enhance the organization’s Data Management capabilities and maturity over time.
  • Advisory & Technical Oversight
    • Provide active SME advice on Data Management to a network of Data Management teams (Data Owners, Data Stewards, etc.) on DM standards, methods, tools, applications, and processes.
    • Promote development and improvement of data platforms within and for the Data Management network.
    • Facilitate knowledge sharing of available technology within the Group and the industry to the network of Data Management teams.
    • Promote data literacy and drive adoption of Data tools and practices across the network.
  • Support Data Risk Governance and C&C teams
    • Conduct risk assessments of internal data and privacy management processes and controls.
    • Lead internal reviews to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support design and periodic reviews of risk management guidelines.
    • Support remediation actions to address identified deficiencies.
    • Ensure internal controls are aligned with the risk management framework and best practices.
    • Support design of BI and reporting solutions.
    • Drive global efforts to automate and streamline risk management processes.
    • Promote risk management awareness across the organization.
