Job summary

Code and Theory is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Austin to architect and govern scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. You will collaborate with the ML Engineering team and stakeholders to transform business needs into reliable data solutions, shaping data quality, governance, and performance.

You will mentor engineers, drive standards, and contribute to building end-to-end data platforms that support predictive and generative modeling initiatives at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience with ownership and impact.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and ETL.
• Experience building data workloads in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong product orientation with ability to deliver measurable business value.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered coding and AI-enabled workflows.
• Mentoring experience and establishing engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex workstreams and technical problem solving across engagements.
• Design, build, and scale data pipelines and infrastructure for ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving.
• Collaborate with ML Engineering to support model training, evaluation, and serving.
• Identify opportunities to improve team processes, tooling, and ways of working.
• Translate business needs into elegant, product-minded data solutions that drive business value.
• Integrate marketing data sources into reliable, well-modeled datasets.
• Establish data engineering standards, documentation, and data quality monitoring.
