Job summary

Nike is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in Beaverton, OR to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions within the CP&I Data and Analytics Engineering group. You will lead technical design, mentor engineers, and set governance standards while delivering production-grade data products.

The role emphasizes distributed data processing, cloud platforms, and strong collaboration with data scientists, engineers, analysts, and product managers to drive BI and AI initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of Data Engineer experience with Databricks, PySpark, SQL and Apache Spark.
• Hands-on with Databricks Lakehouse Platform, Medallion architecture, Delta Lake and AWS data services (S3, RDS).
• Proven leadership and mentoring of data engineering teams with CI/CD, Git and DevOps practices.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, real-time processing frameworks (Kafka, Kinesis) and cross-functional stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and deployment of scalable data pipelines and architectures powering analytics and AI initiatives.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Mentor junior data engineers and promote best practices in coding, governance and performance.
• Build reusable data engineering components, frameworks and libraries processing data from diverse sources.
• Monitor and optimize data pipelines for high availability and enterprise-scale reliability.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and testing of data workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and foster collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
